No matter your situation or need, there are people who will help.

That’s the message of Jovenes’ outreach programs. Contacting hard-to-reach and at-risk populations is a crucial aspect of Jovenes’ activities. Each week, our Outreach Team goes to public places throughout Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles where the homeless, those at risk, and those under-employed congregate. During outreach, our team provides homeless individuals with basics such as lunches, referrals, and access to medical care. When we encounter youth on the streets, we make sure that they know about the services and housing that is available at Jovenes.

 On Tuesday mornings, Jovenes offers Hora de Café, a counseling session for chronically homeless individuals. We collaborate with other community partners to provide mental health support groups and HIV/AIDS testing, and also use this workshop as a space for individuals to attend basic needs, such as showering and doing laundry.
